LZB SYSTEM SIMULATOR FOR THE SEOUL METRO

oct 18, 2017

CITEF has developed and installed a simulator to train the personnel of the Metro of Seoul in the use and maintenance of the signaling of Line 2, including the LZB 700 M system, all in collaboration with SIEMENS and STraffic.

The simulator shows how the LZB system operates on Line 2 of the Seoul Metro, both its on-board part and its ground components, and it permits training all the line operators -namely, drivers, command post operators and maintenance staff- and them learning about the system.

The simulator modules (field simulation, traffic simulation, LZB 700M system simulation) have been integrated into the Siemens and STraffic elements used in the real system, such as the interlock and the CCO; real field elements: a line circuit, a needle and a signal; and two real LZB DMIs. All this, together with two reduced driving desks, permits training CCO operators, maintenance staff and drivers at the same time.

In addition to the normal functioning of the line and the trains, CITEF has introduced the simulation of different errors in the system elements, which allow teaching the action protocols in the event of degraded situations within the training programmes.

The integration with the different real equipment has been carried out at Siemens’ facilities in Braunschweig. Finally, the simulator has been installed in the Seoul Metro offices where CITEF has given a training course to the employees or the future users of the simulator.
