DGF CERTIFIES THE SIMULATOR RESULTING FROM THE CEFF AND CITEF AGREEMENT

ene 13, 2015

In October 2013 we announced that an agreement had been signed between CEFF (the European Rail Training Centre) and CITEF for the development of a new training tool based on immersive simulators with a high degree of realism.

The DGF (Directorate General of Rail) has certified this driving simulator, which is already proving to be one of CEFF’s most successful training resources; at the same time, demand for training has forced the Centre to start up a new course for entrants into the rail profession.

The project began in the first quarter of 2014 and it integrates two freight engine driving simulators and one instructor position responsible for managing and supervising the training.

The simulator design not only expands CEFF’s offering and improves learning procedures for its students, it also adds a highly beneficial technical component to its new training plan with significant advantages for the training of engine drivers: shorter learning time, increase in the quality of the knowledge they acquire, and the possibility of intensive training in critical or emergency situations.

The immersive driving and traffic simulator, which comprises a line that is over 60 km long and a variety of different scenarios, covers almost all the emergency situations that an engine driver may come across, thus ensuring learning of the highest quality.

The training position reproduces an engine compartment with a variable layout equipped with ASFA Digital and train-land communication systems, as well as the main operation interfaces encountered on different lines.

By using virtual interfaces, the instructor position can design the convoy formation at each of the training positions. It also includes a central server capable of managing the data and the results generated with the simulators.
