OPENING OF CHANGSHA METRO

abr 30, 2014

The first metro line in Changsha opened on 29 April, which means that the capital of Hunan province has become the nineteenth city in continental China to have a metro line.

For this project, CITEF developed a driving simulator with CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control), implemented in Line 2 of the metro in the city of Changsha. The simulator comprises a training position that includes a model of the rolling stock running on this line, as well as several on-board devices; special emphasis is given to the train’s CBTC equipment as it is new. The simulation also included the route of the entire line, which has 19 stations, and the main failures and incidents that could be encountered for the purposes of training its drivers.

The first phase of Line 2 is 22.3 km long and it has 19 stations. The north-south Line 1, which goes from the northern bus station to Shangshuangtang, has been under construction since 2010; it is scheduled to open by the end of 2014. The route is 23.6 km long and goes through 20 stations.

The city’s authorities are planning to construct four more lines over the next 25 years as a western extension of Line 2 and a northern extension of Line 1. A 16.5-km link between South Changsha station and the airport has also been planned and it is expected to open in 2016.
