OPERATION SIMULATIONS AND ELECTRICAL DESIGN FOR METRÔ BAHÍA

feb 12, 2016

At the end of 2015 Line 1 of Metrô Bahía was opened at a ceremony attended by Dilma Rousseff, President of Brazil. At the same time the line was opened, the Pirajá station was also started up as part of a project that began in 2000 and is beginning to show returns now that the political, contractual and financial conflicts that slowed down its launch, have been solved.

CITEF has played an active role in the project, developing operation simulations and electrical dimensioning design applied to the current metro Line 1 of Metrô Bahía, now in operation, and to Line 2, which is under construction.

The simulations include a dual study:

  • (i) detailed analysis of travel times, fleet, consumption and transport capacity;
  • (ii) analysis of the energy systems of both lines, comprising the analysis and optimization of traction substations, the medium-voltage ring and main substations.

Work is currently focusing on the second phase of the network (Line 2 East-West), which covers 24.2 km and will link the city centre to the airport.
