THE METRO SANTIAGO SIMULATORS NOW UPDATED WITH TETRA

oct 03, 2017

The radio systems of each of the lines on the entire network have been replaced by the modern TETRA technology within the scope of the Santiago Metro modernisation plan.

The radio network simulation has already been replaced in the training simulators, thereby ensuring the operating personnel has been trained in the use of these devices before their entry into service. The line 1 simulator, where the NS-93 and NS-07 are included, and the line 4 simulator, with the AS-02, have both integrated the new TETRA technology simulation. To achieve this, the model, installation and tests have had to be developed in parallel with the specification and development phases of the real system.

OCC (Operation Control Centre) simulation upgrade

The OCC interface has been implemented with all the functionality needed for real operation. The radio system permits the OCC operator to communicate digitally through different groups, create and administer them, and manage communications on an intuitive and user-friendly interface at an advanced level.

Train upgrade

At the same time, the old radio systems have been replaced by new equipment in all the developed trains, including the modelling and simulation of a fixed and portable radio. The operator’s desk, the electrical cabinets and the simulated circuitry have undergone the necessary adjustments.

All the above has been faithfully reproduced to make possible the training of different professional profiles and permit practicing on the use of the new communication system between operators.

This process has been carried out without interfering with the normal use of the simulator and, thanks to the flexibility of the set, without affecting any other functionality or usage.
