UIC ASIA-PACIFIC WORKSHOP ON TRAINING SIMULATORS FOR LOCOMOTIVE CREWS

International Workshop on Training Simulators for Locomotive Crews initiated and organized by the JSC” Russian Railways” within the framework of the UIC Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly was held in Moscow (Russian Federation) on February 17-18, 2015.


The event was attended by over 40 representatives of the railway companies and research centers from 15 countries – Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, France, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Moldova, Georgia.


CITEF, by means of its Director Prof Jose Manuel Mera, took part as special speaker, invited by UIC and Russian Railways, in order to present the CITEF’s experience of more than 15 years in this area and the status of the technology applied to Railway Simulators.


The existing and perspective developments, training programs and experience of the usage of simulators for locomotive crews were discussed during the Workshop. Participants had repeatedly emphasized the importance of this topic for the operation of railway transport in all regions of the world, given that the issues of train drivers’ training were associated with the successful implementation by the railway companies of such key requirements as safety improvement and staff development.



As key result of the Workshop an expert group will be stablish for joint tasks development, in the framework of UIC, in order to define and propose future strategies in the subject.
