Two of the three simulator rooms — located at the Cuatro Vientos, Canillejas and Hortaleza depots — have been in operation for over 20 years with their original equipment. Throughout all this time, it has been our team that has kept them running, ensuring that drivers from countless intakes could train safely and to a high standard, despite working with systems that are now obsolete.
We are now embarking on a new stage: a complete modernisation, with an investment of over €2.3 million, which will renew both the software and the hardware. The new simulators will be far more immersive and realistic, with driving desks that replicate the actual cab, and will even incorporate new lines, such as the current Line 11 and its future extension between Plaza Elíptica and Conde de Casal, as well as maintaining and updating lines L9A, L10A and L12 (Metrosur) to prepare the drivers of the 7000, 9000 and 8000 series trains and the Citadis light rail vehicles on ML1.
For us, this is not just an ambitious project: it is the continuation of a relationship of trust with Metro de Madrid spanning more than two decades.
Our thanks go to the whole team that has kept these systems running for so long — and we look forward to this new phase, which will allow us to keep training Metro de Madrid's drivers for many years to come.
